Kendra Hutchens

Postdoctoral Fellow

Kendra Hutchens, PhD is a medical sociologist and budding socio-legal scholar whose qualitative and mixed methods research focuses on gender, health, and reproduction. She investigates how legal, medical, and social institutions become sites of reproductive governance and how those subject to such governance experience, interpret, and navigate these forms of authority within their everyday lives. She currently serves as a research fellow on a national study of pregnancy criminalization. Her research has been supported by the NIH, the Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute, and private foundations, appearing in journals such as Gender & Society, Journal of Health and Social Behavior, Social Science & Medicine, and Science Advances. Prior to joining AJRC, Kendra was a faculty member in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Colorado Anschutz School of Medicine.
